I guess we're not out of the "art" woods after all. Roxie took a geology class at a local junior college and I tagged along on a field trip to the Mammoth Lakes, California area. This is a stream that drains some hot springs. I think the springs were brine even because this was in the neighborhood of Mono Lake. The rain shield and caustic soil chemistry keeps much from growing except right where the water flows.
